Derived from the concept code-named Project 226, the Toro has come as a strong competitor for the Renault Duster on the Brazilian market. Recently, the Italian automaker has presented a new model of the pick-up for the model year of 2019. This car has been based on the same architecture as the Renegade. For the powertrain, the vehicle will receive two engine options. Supposedly, these are going to be a diesel and a petrol motors which will be complemented with AWD transmission.

As  the Jeep and Dodge companies, the Fiat’s American division FCA has begun to develop sport utility vehicle and pick-up models. Thus, two years ago, the manufacturer has released a pick-up named the Fullback. So, the Toro is the second truck of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. But unlike the Fullback pick-up which has been produced with the same design as Mitsubishi’s new-gen L200, the Toro has completely been developed as an unique FCA model.

The upcoming Toro will offer elegant and attractive outlines, that can be noticed on the first photos provided by the company.  Indeed, while featuring a big bumper with a large grille looking like a smile and three-level lighting, the front end has a quite impressive appearance.

The side view showing off huge wheel arks, doors with a high window line and a sharp edge at the handles level and the imposing cargo section is able to impress you as well.

Car enthusiast will be satisfied with the practical cargo bed. It features a large space and two-leaf tailgate with convenient handles. The rear end also includes LED taillights sleekly embracing the bed’s corners.

Under the hood, the base modification of the Toro will have a gasoline EtorQ motor with displacement of 1.8 liters. This power unit can generate 130 hp as well as 185 Nm of torque. It will work with a six-speed gearbox providing FWD. The advance version will receive a 2.0 diesel engine. Paired with a six-stage transmission, this MultiJet motor will show 170 hp and 350 Nm of torque.
