The third generation of this five-door crossover was released back in 2013. Code-named F15, it became the most popular car of the X series. Recently, some information and spy photos of the X5’s updated version have appeared. In spite of the camouflage, we can judge that the new car will obviously be more dynamic while having more aggressive front end.

Also, the upgraded X5 will a bit bigger than the current model. This fact means that the crossover will able to offer more space inside. The vehicle is expected to be available at the dealers by summer of 2018.

While the car’s current version is built on the X5 platform introduced ten years ago, the coming X5 will receive a new modular architecture designed last year for the 7-Series. Code-named “Cluster Architecture” (CLAR), it is made of magnesium, carbon fiber and aluminum, thanks to that the crossover should weight less. As the BMW representatives say, some of their SUV line-ups will be switched to the CLAR platform. First of all, it will be given to the X-cars, except the X2 that is going to be based on the UKL platform.

In terms of exterior design, with kidney grill and headlights, the BMW X5 will resemble the just released X3. Below, the front end will feature wide air intakes and some decorative elements looking like fangs. All of that will make the car’s appearance sportier. Also, it is possible to notice that it has a more slopping roof line.

The BW X5 will be available in several trims. Mainly, it will be the sDrive35i and AWD xDrive35i. Both of them will be equipped with a V6 3.0-liter engine as standard. This motor can produce 320 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive will be work through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The hybrid version will be powered by a V8 with displacement of 4.4 liters. Its general output is rated at 600 hp as well as 516 lb-ft. As expected, it will increase fuel economy.
