Six years ago Ford have released the third generation of their world-known Focus. Since then, this compact automobile has undergone one serious upgrade and several adjustments. While aiming to keep the car competitive, the company is going to present a new generation of the Focus.

Although there hasn’t been an official statement about this, some gossips and even spy photos appear in the media time to time. Besides, limited series of the 3-gen Ford Focus RS500 for the US and Europe should be launched soon.

As expected, the new-gen Focus will be released as sedan as well as hatchback. The start price for it is rated at the level of $17,000.

In spite of the fact that there is a little information about the upcoming car, we can assume that Ford will surely able to improve the current model style while coming with increased dimensions. Judging on the spy photos, the Focus’ exterior will feature a bit reshaped headlights while its grille will be smaller. With all of this the compact car seems to resemble the recently presented Fiesta whose influence, by the way, is noticed in the interior design too.

More changes will obviously be at the rear end. For the wagon version, the Ford designers have enlarged the back door aperture. And while the current model features the quarter windows built into the C-pillars, in the new variant they will be on the back door.

As for the interior, among other things, it will offer a new central console featuring more informative and convenient elements. Sure, this will add much to the price but it is undoubtedly useful for the driver.

It is not known about the next-gen Focus’ drivetrain. For the current model there is two engine options. These are a 3-cylindered 1.0 L EcoBoost engine delivering 123 hp and an l4 with displacement of 2 liters and output of 160 hp. These motors are coupled with a 6-speed gearbox.
